42″ IPS SDR 11 MJ Adapter: Connect HDPE Pipe to Valves, Hydrants, and MJ Fittings
The 42 inch HDPE MJ adapter connects an IPS HDPE pipe line to valves, hydrants, and fittings that have a standard mechanical joint (MJ) bell. First, the spigot end butt-fuses to 42″ IPS HDPE pipe (42.000″ OD). Then the other end bolts into the MJ connection. As a result, crews can tie new HDPE mains into existing valves, hydrants, and ductile iron lines.
Adapter only. This listing does not include the gland ring, gasket, or T-bolts. However, they come in the matching MJ adapter kit, which we sell separately.

Because HDPE does not rust, corrode, or tuberculate, the bore stays smooth over time. In addition, a heat-fused joint is as strong as the pipe itself. Since the SDR 11 wall matches SDR 11 IPS pipe, the adapter and pipe go together cleanly. On the other end, the mechanical joint connects to metal valves and fittings with standard hand tools.
Installation tip: Slide the gland ring onto the pipe before you fuse the adapter, because you cannot add it afterward. Also, follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions for bolt torque.
